Panhellenic Association for the Education and Support of Children and Adults with Congenital Heart Disease (CHD) \u201cChild\u2019s Heart\u201d, is a Non- Profit- Volunteer Organization which was founded in 1983 in Athens by parents of children with CHD. Each year in Greece, we have about 1.000 newborns with heart malformations. This number corresponds to 0.8-1.2% of the total annual births in our country. The Association\u2019s vision is a Society that will efficiently support children that suffer from Congenital Heart Diseases through scientific research, welfare and legislation. The Association\u2019s mission is to carry out programs through which they can achieve the moral, financial and psychological support of children with CHD and the assistance in education of families of children and the society regarding the diagnosis and treatment of CHD. The Association is a founding member and collaborates with European Congenital Heart Disease Organisation ECHDO, with Greek Alliance for Rare Diseases and the European Alliance for Rare Diseases Eurordis.<\/p>\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

Since its establishment in 1983, the organization has contributed to the treatment of more than 3,000 children with CHD and has assisted in creating a friendlier and more effective system for the treatment of these children. Specific actions that the organization has taken include:
\n\uf0b7 Interventions and actions to the responsible individuals and institutions in order to improve the health care system for children with CHD
\n\uf0b7 Contribution in the costs of therapy and rehabilitation of children with CHD
\n\uf0b7 Coverage of costs of transportation and accommodation
\n\uf0b7 Organization of programs for counseling and psychological support of the children and their families
\n\uf0b7 Hosting of children with heart transplants in the \u201cHouse of the Heart\u201d
\n\uf0b7 Production and distribution of printed material for the education and information of the patients and the public
\n\uf0b7 A service for the education of families and patients for their rights
\n\uf0b7 Representation and advocacy for the patients and families
\n\uf0b7 Various educational actions and campaigns
\n\uf0b7 Collaboration with other NGOs and institutions of the European Union \u201cChild\u2019s Heart\u2019s” strategic allies are its members, friends and donors who supports it constantly and with sensitivity through each project and action that it implements.<\/p>\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/section>
