Sunday June 22th

 

Triathlon Events
Standard: (Individual – Relay): Swim: 1500m, Bike: Distance 38.4km / Gain:474m, Run: Distance = 9.8km / Gain = 113m, (2007 and before)
Sprint: (Individual – Relay): Swim: 750m, Bike: Distance 20km / Gain: 254m, Run: Distance = 5km / Gain = 69m, (2009 and before)

Aquathlon Events

Adults Aquathlon: Swim: 750m, Run: Distance = 5km / Gain = 69m, (2009 and before)
Junior Aquathlon: Swim: 150m, Run: 1km, (2010 – 2019)

Triathlon Races

Standard: +18 years
Overall Men-Women

Age Groups, Men – Women (18-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50 -54, 55-59, 60-69, +70)

Relay: Men/mixed (teams either by men or mixed men-women), Women (only women) and Corporate.

 

Sprint: +16 ετών
Overall Men-Women

Age Groups, Men – Women (16-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50 -54, 55-59, 60-69, +70)

Relay: Men/mixed (teams either by men or mixed men-women), Women (only women) and Corporate.

 

Aquathlon Events

Overall Men-Women.
Adults: Age Groups, Men – Women (16-20, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, +70)

 

Junior: 6-15 years

There is no overall division in kid’s races

Age Groups, Boys – Girls (6-7, 8-9, 10-12, 13-15)

 

Important Comments

  1. Awards
  • There is no Overall category in childrens’ events.
  • The First overall athlete will not be awarded inhis/hers age category.
  • If there are no at least three athletes per age group, then merging will apply.
  • There will not be any merging for the following age roup categories: +16-19 & 20-24 sprint distance and 18-24 Standard distance as well as the over 60.
  • .For athletes with disabilities, separate awarding categories aplly. etc.).

 

  1. Contingency plans

Due to various unpredictable situations, a race may not be executed as planned. In this case, the organizing committee executes the race based on alternative emergency plans (Contingency plans), provided by the international federation. For example, if the swimming leg of a triathlon cannot be performed, then swimming is replaced by running.

Important note: in case of alternative contingency plans being implemented in a league race, the scoring applies as normal and it is calculated in the same way – based on time.

 

  1. Wave Starts

Wave Starts by age groups:

18-29  |   30-39  |  40-49   |   50 -59   |+60 – The relays start with the last age group

** Due to the fact the transition  zone contains important athletes’ assets, finishers’ presence  will not be allowed, and of course no bikes will be taken before the designated time. In case of violation of the above, athletes are automatically disqualified.

 

Route Details

 Triathlon 

Standard Triathlon (Individual – Relay)

Swim: 1,500m, Bike: 38.4km, Run: 9.8km

Swim (2 laps):
The swim takes place at Pezoula beach, in the village of Kalyvia. The start will take place from within the water. Athletes will pass clockwise around the next three buoys (2, 3, 4) on the outside (keeping the buoy on their right), heading from buoy 5 back toward buoy 1, which is the starting point, completing the first 750m. They repeat the same route a second time before finishing at the starting point. The start and finish are at the same location.

Bike (2 laps):
After exiting the transition zone, athletes turn left onto the municipal road leading to Kalyvia. At the intersection with the Mesénikolas – Fylakti ring road, they turn right toward Karditsa until they reach the first (A) turnaround point for this race category. They then continue to the second (B) turnaround point located in the village of Kalyvia along the same ring road. After turning around, they bike again to the first (A) turnaround point and return to the transition zone.
Athletes follow the signage along the route and always move according to traffic rules.
All turnarounds are left-hand turns.

Run (1 lap):
After exiting the transition zone, athletes turn left onto the dirt road that runs along the lake and through lush green trees. Following the signage, they reach the turnaround point designated for their race category and then return to the transition zone via the same path in reverse.

Cut-offs: Swim = 0:45h, Swim + Bike = 3:30h


Sprint Triathlon (Individual – Relay)

Swim: 750m, Bike: 20km, Run: 5km

Swim (1 lap):
The swim takes place at Pezoula beach, in the village of Kalyvia. The start will take place from within the water. Bike (1 lap):
After exiting the transition zone, athletes turn left onto the municipal road leading to Kalyvia. They then return to the transition zone following the same route in reverse.

After exiting the transition zone, athletes turn left and then right onto the asphalt road, continuing to the turnaround point and back. This route is completed twice before athletes finish.

Cut-offs: Swim = 0:35h, Swim + Bike = 2:30h


Adults Aquathlon

Swim: 750m, Run: 5km

Swim (1 lap):
The swim takes place at Pezoula beach, in the village of Kalyvia. The start will take place from within the water. Athletes will pass clockwise around the next three buoys (2, 3, 4) on the outside (keeping the buoy on their right), heading from buoy 5 back toward buoy 1, which is the starting point, completing 750m. The start and finish are at the same location.

Junior Aquathlon

Swim: 150m, Run: 1km

Swim (1 lap):
The swim takes place at Pezoula beach, in the village of Kalyvia. The start will take place from within the water. Athletes will pass clockwise around the next two buoys, heading back toward buoy 1, which is the starting point. The start and finish are at the same location.

Run (1 lap):
After exiting the transition zone, athletes turn left onto the dirt road that runs along the lake and through lush green trees. Following the signage, they reach the turnaround point designated for their race category and return to the transition zone via the same route in reverse.

 

Registration – Supporting Documents

Your Application- Registration is pending until your supporting documents are sent, at least 5 days prior to the events, to the following e-mail: contact@why-n.gr. If supporting documents are not sent on time, your application will be automatically cancelled by the system.

Supporting documents depending on the event-race:

  • Triathlon – Aquathlon – multisports : Recognized federation valid Athlete ID or Medical certificate specifying that the athlete can participate on sport events and races.
  • Cycling – Swimming (pool or OW): Recognized federation valid Athlete ID or Medical certificate specifying that the athlete can participate on sport events and races.
  • Running: No additional documentation.
  • The supporting documents must be sent to: contact@why-n.gr. Upon completion of all the above, you will receive an e-mail confirming your participation.
  • The athlete package can be collected at the registration desk. All the necessary information (address, opening hours, technical specs, etc) can be found at the official web site https://why-n.gr.

 

General Conditions and Terms

  • Each event is conducted on the basis of the general rules of the respective international federation and on the basis of possible technical notices of the organizing authority – committee.
  • In case of any additional banking charges, they will be covered by the applicant.
  • In case of cancellation or postponement of an event – race (part or whole), the registration fees are not refunded. Registration is carried over to one of the company’s next races within the year. Only in case of cancellation of the last race of the year, registration is carried over to the following year.
  • In case of the athlete’s inability to attend the event – race, registration will not be transferred and fees will not be refunded.
  • The organizing committee reserves the right to modify, for reasons of force majeure, at any time a race by applying the Contingency plans – Alternative emergency plans provided by the respective international federation. For example, if the swimming leg of a triathlon cannot be performed, then swimming is replaced by running. The match is carried out and the athletes do not have the right to transfer their participation to one of the company’s next matches.
