Race Announcement of Nafplio Action 

On 1st and 2nd of October, the Municipality of Nafplio (DOPPAT), and the company whynot are organizing the multisport race under the name Nafplio Action (triathlon, aquathlon, swimming and running races) in the beautiful areas of Tolo and Nafplio. The 1st day, swimming and running events will take place in Tolo, one of the most touristic destinations of Argolis, while on the 2nd day, triathlon and aquathlon races are scheduled at the seaside of Nafplio.

Tolo
Tolo is a pretty seaside town with about 2,500 inhabitants. It is located a short distance south of Nafplio and attracts many tourists during the summer months. The natural surroundings of the town with its beautiful beaches create a picturesque, romantic and idyllic picture. Opposite the port, one can admire the three little islands, Koronisi, Romvi and Daskalio. The main occupations of the residents of Tolo are primarily tourism and fishery. Tolo is renowned for its excellent tourist infrastructure, impressive natural beauty as well as its warm hospitality of its inhabitants, qualities which attract visitors from around the world.

Nafplio
Nafplio, the capital of the prefecture of Argolida and the first capital of Greece, is a picturesque city with a significant history and deeply rooted cultural traditions. Built at the foot of two forts, Palamidi and Acronafplia, today it has a population of around 19,000 inhabitants and a growing tourism. Nafplio is a neoclassical 19th century city with great tradition and centuries of history. Nafplio combines a set of images that fascinates visitors. The main source of income is tourism as it is a popular destination all year round. The city operates a commercial port that exports mainly agricultural products of the hinterland of the county.

Remarks – Awards

There is no overall division in kid’s races.

In order to have an awarding category, at least three athletes are required; otherwise, the age group class will be incorporated with the next one.The first athletes of the overall divisions cannot be awarded in its age group class as well.

Route Details

 

Swim Races

Swimming Kids  300m, (1 Loop)

The start will be given in-water. The athletes will pass clockwise (right turns) to the next two buoys before finishing out of the water. The swim course is a triangle.

 

Swimming 1.500m, (1 Loop)
The start will be given in-water. The athletes will pass clockwise (right turns) to the next two buoys before finishing out of the water. The swim course is a triangle.

 

 

 

Swimming 3.000m, (2 Loops): 

The start will be given in-water. The athletes will pass clockwise (right turns) to the next two buoys before reaching to the in water staring point.  The athletes will have to swim the same course (2 loops) before finishing out of the water. The swim course is the same triangle twise.

 

 

 

City Run Races

Running Kids 1.500m, (1 Loop)

The race starts at the center of Tolo.  The Athletes run along Bouboulinas Avenue heading northeast, until the U turn sign.  The athletes head to the finish line by doing the opposite course. The race starts and finishes at the same place.

 

Running 5.000m, (1Loop)

The race starts the center of Tolo.  The Athletes run along Bouboulinas Avenue first and then along Kastrakiou Avenue, heading northeast, until the U turn sign. The athletes head to the finish line by doing the opposite course. The race starts and finishes at the same place.

  

Triathlon Races

 

Standard Triathlon (Individual – Relay):  swim: 1.500m, bike: 37km, run: 10km

  • Swim (2 loops): Athletes swim clockwise passing the next three buoys completing the first 750m. They continue with the same way, going around for a second time, before they finish at the starting line. The start and the end of the race are at the same line, while the course is triangular.
  • Bike (3 loops): On leaving the transition zone, the athletes move left on Akti Miaouli Avenue and then on the coastal road towards Nea Kios. The athletes will have to perform three loops (AB – BA), before returning to transition zone.

 

  • Run (4 loops): On leaving the transition zone, athletes turn right on Miaouli –Pharmakopoulou Avenue. Then left on staikopoulou that becomes 25th  Left on Sidiras Merarchias, left on Sigrou and right on Vasilissis Amalias until the transition zone.  At this point, athletes have completed the first 2.5km, and they will have to run the same route another three times – 4 in total, before finishing their race.

 

             Cut Offs: Swim= 0:45h, Swim+Bike = 3:10h

   

Sprint Triathlon (Individual – Relay):  swim: 750m, bike: 24km, run: 5km

  • Swim (1 Loop): Athletes swim clockwise passing the next three buoys, before finishing at the starting line. The start and the end of the race are at the same line, while the course is triangular.

Bike (2 loops):  On leaving the transition zone, the athletes move left on Akti Miaouli Avenue and then on the coastal road towards Nea Kios. The athletes will have to perform two loops (AB – BA), before returning to transition zone.

  • Bike (1 Loop): On leaving the transition zone, the athletes move left on Akti Miaouli Avenue and then on the coastal road towards Milous village. The athletes will have to perform a U turns at the 3.7th km, before returning to transition zone.
  • Run (1Loop): On leaving the transition zone, athletes turn right on Miaouli –Pharmakopoulou Avenue.  Then left on staikopoulou that becomes 25th  Left on Sidiras Merarchias, left on Sigrou and right on Vasilissis Amalias until the finish line.

 

 Kids Aquathlon: swim: 150m, run: 1.5km

 

  • Swim (1 Loop): Athletes swim clockwise passing the next three buoys, before finishing at the starting line. The start and the end of the race are at the same line, while the course is triangular.

 

  • Run (1 Loop): On leaving the transition zone, athletes turn right on Miaouli –Pharmakopoulou Avenue.  Then left on Staikopoulou, left on E. Sofroni and left again on Vasilissis Amalias until the finish line.

The racing schedule may be modified in accordance with the particularities of the race. The representative of the Technical Committee and the Director of the Race are responsible for drawing up and formalizing the race program and for what is not provided in this notice
